What Brand Are You??

Teenagers are a complicated group of people. They tend to find ways around everything and if they don't get their way watch out for those rebels. A major thing that is common among teens are labels or group names. The typical names you can hear are jock, emo, nerd, bully, wannabes, and so on. Being a teen I witness everyday the labels that others place on people.

"He is such a nerd."
"That girl is a bitch, the way she thinks she is all cool in the American Eagle outfit."
"I hate those kids that wear all black, those emo freaks."

Teens are the group of humans that have a hard time finding their identity or individuality. Teenagers always look at others to see what they should do or think. They rarely take the time to think of things on their own. Following others seems to be the trend. It takes a couple of years before some figure out who they really are. In this process most decide to change up their identity a couple of times.

A breakdown of some of these common titles can be found in an article at http://teen-culture.suite101.com/article.cfm/teen_stereotypes.

Teen labeling has become a part in most teens' everyday lives. Labeling is something that can't be controlled anymore. You may see someone walking down the hall at school and just becomes that day specifically they are wearing all black you decide to categorize them as "emo" (emotional). In reality they are probably just another teen. One day wearing "jock" clothes and "emo" the next. Teens have come to far with labels. Below there are a few pictures of the most common titles people are given. These pictures are the stereotypes of the titles.

Identity is something that is affected by everyday life. People putting others into groups are the ones that get categorized as well. Teen labeling is a chain effects that stays in a circle and will never end. If you had to sit down and think about it, how many groups do you have in your school? What percentage is in each group? What group are you in and why?

All these questions variety depending on the person answering it. Labeling it like colors they are a little different shade to everyone.
